Using Apple ID: A Key to Unlocking Your Mac

Unlocking your Mac sans password presents multiple approaches. The method that suits you best depends on whether you tied your Apple ID to your user account during the Mac setup phase.

Step I: After three failed attempts, a screen will beckon you to restart your computer to explore password recovery options.

Step II: Click this prompt to initiate a reboot of your Mac.

Step III: Upon reboot, the system will prompt you to log in using your Apple ID.

Step IV: Post Apple ID login, select the specific user account for password reset.

Step V: Abide by the instructions to establish a new password for your user account.

Utilizing Recovery Mode to Reset Mac Passwords

For Macs with an Intel Processor: Power down your Mac and then press and hold the Command + R keys. Maintain this command until you observe a progress bar below the iconic Apple logo.

For Macs With Apple’s M1/M2/M3 Processor: Shut down your Mac entirely, then press and hold the power button until the “Options” button emerges. Subsequently, click on “Options” and select “Recovery.”
